Animal advocates usually accuse the vivisection industry, but now that there only nine “random source” animal dealers in the whole United States, that sad chapter in animal welfare history is finally coming to an end. Meanwhile, the more extreme elements of the consumptive use supporters often blame animal advocates, because they claim animal advocates are against keeping pets…so they steal pets…to what? keep as pets?…uhhh yeah…whatever.

However, news analysis of the recent spate of dog thefts puts the blame on burglars looking to make a quick buck by reselling pedigreed pooches. And don’t be surprised if your friendly local dogfighter isn’t involved, too.
