Loving Them to Death

In the wake of the Westminster dog show, I thought I’d post a link to a blog I have been following called Pedigree Dogs Exposed. Imagine: dogs who struggle to breathe. Dogs who cannot run properly. Dogs who suffer from perpetual skin, ear, or eye infections. This is the reality for far too many “beloved” purebred dogs.

Loser tries to make up for driving a minivan.

But it appears that Bridges may have finally gone a bit too far after he actually bragged on his anti-wolf Facebook page that he intentionally struck and killed a pair of young wolves with his minivan as they crossed Interstate 90 near the Montana-Idaho state line.

LOS ANGELES – Facebook was down for about 30 minutes Friday morning and officials said the 911 calls flooded their lines.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s office even tweeted about the incident, reminding the public the Facebook outage was not a public safety issue.

Beagles Unite

There was also a project that cost taxpayers more than $1.9 million at Ohio State University to test the safety of fish oil supplements after a heart attack. The ones having the heart attacks were dogs. (Beagles, by the way, are predominantly used because they’re small and they’re friendly. “The same thing that makes them great pets,” points out Kaplan, Hammy’s owner.)

Childish Pursuits

But I don’t hate children.

I hate the culture of children.

I hate the misogyny that surrounds pregnancy.

Most of all, I hate the people who perpetuate this culture, who deny someone else the right to say they don’t want to be part of it, who threaten to make them part of it.

But, you know, it’s so much easier to just say I hate children.

Noah’s Surprisingly Strong Message

As a work of art, it probably misses being a “great” movie, saddled as it is with “big-budget Hollywood spectacle” tropes. It is, however, definitely a milestone in blockbuster veganism, in mainstreaming the vegan idea, weaving it through related issues – justice, faith, sacrifice, masculinism, militarism, climate change, violence, nonviolence and storytelling – that make for a moving and thought-provoking experience for anyone who’s paying attention.
