Cops keep hunting down kids with overdue library books

The Freeport Area Library Board’s president, fed up with the repeatedly ignored phone calls and letters, called police to pay a “courtesy call” to the delinquent reader (the books have since been returned and the fine paid). If you’re baffled by the high fine (running up an $81.60 library fine is like racking up a $20 Taco Bell bill — it just doesn’t happen), now you know how that measly 40 cents per day adds up over a 204-day period.

C’mon, MSN. The cops aren’t hunting down 5 year olds–but rather their stupid, irresponsible parents who are STEALING from libraries.
