It’s Not OK, Animal Protectors Shelter

A doctor and a former staff member call the facility a “ticking bomb” saying many of the dogs are capable of attacking anyone that takes them home.

Dr. Becky Morrow calls this situation dangerous, not just for shelter workers, but to the animal-loving public.

“This is Forrest,” Dr. Morrow said, referring to another dog. “Forrest has bitten two people we know of at least. One was a police officer while Forrest was walking outside on a leash.”

Tracker is described as a shelter favorite, but bit the foot off of another dog.

Dr. Morrow says Zara killed a pug about a month ago.

Dacia is so aggressive you need to feed him with a steel dish under the cage.

“They need to be marked as dangerous dogs,” Dr. Morrow said. “If that’s not enforced, then the public’s at risk.”

The problem, according to the doctor who as bit in the face and a former employee, is the website says these dogs are friendly, fun-loving, family-type dogs when in fact the doctor says they are dangerous dogs and could be a risk to anyone who comes to Animal Protectors to adopt them.

“I have a professional obligation to the public,” Dr. Morrow said. “One of the things we take an oath on is protecting public health and that’s the reason why I’m so worried a child or another dog will get killed.”

Full story and video.

Attacks on innocent people are not acceptable. Attacks on other pets are not acceptable. If these dogs are to be offered to the public at all, the shelter must make potential owners aware of these animals’ bite history. Period. This is the sort of irresponsibility and unethical behavior that makes the public distrust shelter dogs in particular and animal shelters in general. And I’d be a liar if I didn’t blame breeder BFF Nathan Winograd for this “must adopt out every one” mentality that’s been sweeping shelters and rescue groups the past few years.

This is what happened when a vet tried to give a shelter dog a rabies vaccine. Should this dog be adopted out into a home with unsuspecting people who know nothing of his history?

    Your article reads:

My question is: Why was this “shelter” pit bull at “Doggie Day Care”?
Who authorized for this dog to leave the shelter and be at Doggie Day Care?

I agree, if there was a known problem with the dog it should never have left the shelter. Dr. Morrow paints herself as an authority on dogs and cats but does not seem to have a clue about either. Sorry, but even I know to approach a dog (any dog, no matter the size) with caution. That dog didn’t know she was “THE” Becky Morrow.

That’s the problem. The shelter said the dog was fine. Get your facts straight. Dr. Morrow has given literally thousands of vaccines to dogs and not been attacked. Once again, the shelter did not in any way mark that the dog was aggressive. The dog showed no sign of aggressive behavior until it was too late. Warehousing dogs that do not get adopted is WRONG!!!
